What
is a BAT Certificate?
A Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) certificate is issued by your
instructor and attests that you fully understand the Department
of Transportations' (DOT) rules and regulations detailed in their
published document 49CFR Part 40 as well as instrument operation.
This certificate is instrument specific and must be renewed every
5 years with the completion of a refresher course.

What is
a Lifeloc Operator and Calibration Technician Certificate?
Providing your Instructor submitted
the appropriate materials, Lifeloc issues a certification attesting
that you are proficient and certified to inspect, maintain, and
perform calibrations on Lifeloc equipment. This certificate is important
as the DOT requires that, as a user of the EBT, you must follow
the manufacturer's QAP (Quality Assurance Plan) and Lifeloc's QAP
states that calibration must be performed by a qualified operator.
Both the BAT certificate that your instructor has issued and a certificate
for the specific EBT you trained on are needed to ensure compliance
with the provisions of 49 CFR Part 40.
